Value Engineering
Value analysis or value engineering (VE) is a systematic approach to improving the value of a product, process or service by analyzing its functions while minimizing costs. The focus here is on customer value and optimizing the ratio between function and cost without compromising key features of the product.
Value engineering focuses on the redesign of already released serial products. This distinguishes it from the DFX approach, which is more anchored in new product development (NPI).
